About

As well as writing my own books, I like helping other people write theirs.
I’m an editor with over fifteen years experience. I’ve spent the majority of my career doing what I enjoy most: working closely with authors to develop their manuscripts. I’ve worked with all kinds of writers, published and unpublished, new and established, on a broad range of fiction, memoir and non-fiction.

I started my career at Faber & Faber, where I worked with a range of bestselling writers. Since then, I’ve worked freelance for major publishing houses, creative writing schools and manuscript assessment services. I’ve also continued to work one-to-one with writers to develop their books.

I work with writers on all different stages of their writing journey. I’m equally happy talking about a first draft or polishing a twentieth, helping an award-winning novelist or encouraging someone trying something out for the first time. My client list is diverse in every sense; what unites us is a belief that it’s valuable to use some portion of our time putting words on the page and working out what it is we want to say.

I’m happy to give a one-off assessment, but I’ve also established longer-term mentoring relationships, in some cases seeing writers from a partial draft to a publishing deal. Writing a book can be a joyful process but also challenging and lonely at times. I like to think I can offer a little bit of light, or companionship, along the way.
